Semi-Finals & Finals

Semi-Finals Qualification Tournaments for 2012 – 2013 Finals

The time has come for the Semi-Finals to determine who will have the opportunity to play the NDPT Finals. If you have already qualified for the 2013 NDPT Finals you can not play the Semi-Finals. For everyone else, play the Semi-Finals and qualify for a chance to play for a 2013 Main Event seat. The tentative date for the Finals is Saturday, June 8, 2013.

Certificates date from June 15, 2012 through and including the date of the semi-final qualification event may used as part of each players count. Each player will be permitted to play a maximum of three qualifications.

Due to a several venue changes we are running the Semi-Finals slightly differently than in the past. For this year’s semi-finals there are two methods of qualification:

1) Each NDPT region will have one regional Semi-Finals event: Loveland for Northern Colorado; Colorado Springs for Southern Colorado and the Denver metro area;

2) Select semi-finals at a number of local Denver metro venues including Alibi’s, Buenos Tiempos, Halftime and Milo’s.

The three regional Semi-Finals events will be conducted as they were last year. Each player will bring his or her certificates to the event for counting. For players with certificates equal or below 5,000 chips, these players will play with 5,000 chips. For players whose total certificates are worth between 5,000 to 50,000 chips, they will play the value of the certificates. For those few players who have accumulated more than 50,000 in chips, they will play with 50,000 plus half of the rest of the face of their certificates. We will play down to a percentage of players equal to between ten to fifteen percent of the starting number. Those participants remaining will receive admission to the finals.

At the local venue events will identically to the regional events except that each of these events will play for a specific length of time (four hours of play time). At the conclusion of the play if one or more players remain above the qualifying number a chip count will be done and the top chip counts will receive a qualification to the finals. In the event the number is reached prior to the end of the four hour play period, the event will conclude and all players up to the qualification number will receive an entry to the finals. In the unlikely event that two or more player have exactly the same number of chips, after a qualification count, all such players will receive a qualification to the finals.
