2004: The Winners |
 |
The first poker hand
was dealt at 12:30PM, and the last hand at 7:15PM. The eventual
winner, an hour into the tournament, flopped a royal flush - and
beat two players with Boats (full houses). Not a big pot at the
time, but possibly an omen of what was to come. Mike Sullivan won
$450 in cash and a cruise to the Bahamas. Sean won $300, and Bill
took home $150 in cash.

2004: The Final Poker Table |
 |
Front Row L to R:
Daniel, Fuji, Eric, Troy, and Heath
Back Row L to R: Duane, Brian Masters, and Kirk
All the
players had to previously win a qualifying poker tournament and
then beat all the other players to get this far. An approximate
500 poker players played throughout the tournament over the last
10 weeks. The Final Showdown game was played at Gibby's on Saturday
night.
Players met
at 5PM and enjoyed food and beverages before the start of the game.
Seating assignments were then given and the players began. Ten minutes
into the game, the first person was eliminated from the tournament.
Seven hours later, the winner was finally decided. The last two players,
"Fuji" and Duane battled it out from a half an hour before
the final hand came down. Duane won the final hand with two pair, Jacks
and Sixes.
